Lamborghini Countach

2042 Lamborghini Countach‘s were made between 1974 and 1990. Made to replace the extremely sucessful Lamborghini Miura, the first Laborghini Countach Prototype LP500 was built in 1970 and showcased at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. The car had a Lamborghini 4.0 Litre V8 Engine that had 447 horsepower. The car crashed in a crash test in 1973 which led to sefety improvements in the Countach LP400. Two other LP500 prototypes were made in 1972, both were sold in auctions in the mid-1980’s for around $700,000. The Countach LP400 was the first version of the Countach to go into major production, it had a less powerful 4.0-litre (3929cc) 353bhp engine. The first L400 was sold in 1974, and 158 were sold by 1977. Around 70 of these cars exist today.

In 1978 a newer, better, and faster version of the Countach called the Countach LP400S. The main difference was the slightly larger engine, and the change in body style. The body featured a longer body, front and rear spoilers, and larger tires. The engine was the same, except it had 375bhp. It was sold for around $80,000-$100,000. 237 of these were made, and 184 remain today. You can buy one of these from $30,000 to $70,000. Another Engine upgrade came in the Countach LP500. The car had a 381bhp engine, this was the only true difference, although it had an optional $5,000 stereo system, 321 of these were made, but only 156 remain today.

The next generation of the Countach was the Countach 5000QV. It had a much larger engine, a larger wheelbase, and a larger front spoiler. With a 5.2 Liter V8 Engine, it generated 455bhp, and had a top speed of 167 mph. The car had a base price of the car was set around $100,000, only 676 were made and 320 remain. The last version of the Countach was unveiled in 1988, the 25th Anniversary Countach it featured a larger spoiler, and different head, and tail lights. It had the same engine as the Countach 5000QV, but had 462 bhp and a top speed of 170 mph. 650 were made and about 620 are around today. Here are some pictures that I have.

Lamborghini Silhouette

Another short article for today, on a historic Lamborghini. Only 54 Lamborghini Silhouettes were produced between 1976 and 1979. the car was the successor to the Lamborghini Urraco. Only 31 of these cars remain alive today. All cars made from 1976 and 1977 where white. Cars in ’78 and ’79 were in other colours, such as blue, orange, and black. It’s top speed is 160 mph. The car had a 3.0  litre all-aluminium alloy Lamborghini V8 internal-combustion engine mounted transversely behind the driver. It reached 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds. These cars are mainly owned by special Lamborghini personel, but several collectors in the United States, Britian, and Italy have ownership of this historic model. Here are some pictures of the Lamborghini.
